Testing the Stone for Readiness
Important: Use caution when handling the hot stone as it will be extremely hot. Always wear the Black Rock Grill heat-resistant gloves.
To test if the stone is hot enough, sprinkle a few drops of water or a pinch of Sea Salt Flakes onto the surface of the stone right in the centre. If the water sizzles and evaporates immediately, or if the salt crystals jump and crackle, the stone is ready for cooking. If the water sits on the surface and bubbles or the salt doesn't jump on the surface it means the stone isn't hot enough yet and will need to be placed back in the heat source. The key is to get the heat to the core of the stone.
